The world's most unusual restaurants

Updated

These days, travel to any town and you're sure to see an Applebee's, a Ruby Tuesday's or an Olive Garden. But what do you do when you want to dine somewhere a little less routine?

If you're in Taiwan, you could head to the hit theme restaurant Marton and join other customers sitting on actual commodes. Which makes sense since Marton is named after the Chinese word 'matong,' meaning toilet.

If you're not in the mood for being reminded of the bathroom while you dine, how about the hospital? Taipei's D.S. Music restaurant is all about the hospital motif. "Nurses" and "doctors" serve you and whatever you choose to eat can be washed down with Vodka Punch, served in an IV hanging from the ceiling.

We found 10 more unusual restaurants that are far from the norm. Try one of these unique dining spots, if you're ever in their neck of the woods.
