Information Edge provides no bull finance advice

credit helpIf you're tired of reading about the right way to go through the home buying process and being bombarded with flashing "click here for the best rates" ads then you should check out Information Edge.

This new website from FoolProof, which makes excellent personal finance learning programs for kids, is aimed at helping adults of all ages make smarter financial decisions when it comes to buying a car, buying a home, dealing with credit and debt as well as many other relevant issues.

Information Edge is part of a partnership with credit unions, but you won't see any ads or get pestered by a credit union while researching important issues on the site. In addition to the straight shooting approach to important money decisions, Information Edge has several monthly features aimed at helping specific age groups with relevant topics. These features are routinely paired with a podcast and an audio segment that adds more information.
Right now Information Edge offers Gen Y with Will, a column that is aimed at helping younger readers learn about credit card tricks, cell phone scams and more. For those in the 35 to 50 age group, Nick's Report provides advice on refinancing, avoiding job search scams, improving your home's energy efficiency and other important topics.

When you use Information Edge for the first time the site will ask you for your zip code and send you to a version that is customized by the closest credit union. With this in mind, after entering your location you may see the Information Edge information given as a "GetREAL" or "RealityCheck," but the info will be the same.

You don't need to be a member of a credit union to use the tool, but there are several advantages to banking at a credit union. If you want to learn more, check our WalletPop's recent coverage about if you should join a credit union.
