Jack in the Box now brewing Kona beans

Jack in the Box offering Kona coffeeIf Kona coffee beans are what you crave in your morning eye-opener, Jack in the Box says it has a cup for you.

Jack in the Box is brewing the Hawaiian Kona beans for all its hot and iced coffee drinks. The new addition comes close on the heels of the hamburger chain announcing a grilled breakfast sandwich featuring artisan bread, two fried eggs and two slices each of American cheese, ham and bacon for $2.99.

Adding a hot coffee would cost you $1.39 or $1.59 depending on the size. A 24-ounce iced coffee is selling for $1.99. Prices don't include taxes.

Jack in the Box is joining other chains that have upgraded their coffee. Much to the delight of coffee lovers, there's been a rush by fast food places to serve up premium brews. Burger King recently began selling Seattle's Best, and Mc Donald's is already known for its premium blend.

While it's near-bliss for customers to have such options, it may also be a sign of a recovering economy. That was the strongest decline in the last decade in new product introductions, said Lynn Dornblaser, leading new product expert at Mintel.

The beginning of this year is already turning that trend around. The breakfast market is abuzz with new menu items, and hopefully we will continue to see more of it in the near future.
