Miami Heat's Dwyane Wade Sells Pinecrest Manse at a Loss

Miami Heat

guard Dwyane Wade is one of the NBA's hottest stars so it's no wonder that Miami-Dade County has now adopted a new name -- "Wade" County. The billboards started popping up along the Interstate shortly after the team became NBA Champs and Dwyane became an All-Star -- again. Lately though, Wade's been in the news for more than just his talent on the court. His pending divorce and recent sale of his Pinecrest mansion are also making headlines, mainly because he's taken a nearly $1.5 million hit on the sale.

According to CondoVultures.com, in 2005 Wade paid $3.98 million (or $440 per square foot) and the recent March sale was for $2.5 million ($277 per square foot). The split and perhaps his impending free agency next season, which could mean a move away from Miami, might have led to the sale. He's been trying to unload the property since 2007 so perhaps there are other underlying factors.
