Sweet San Francisco Rental: Bayview Eco-Studio for $2,279

The Ashton at Mission Bay is in an up-and coming area. This neighborhood by Bayview Hunter's Point really started developing when they built a Muni line down 3rd Street. In the past few years a lot of condos and lofts have gone up in what used to be sort of no man's land adjacent to an industrial area alongside the San Francisco Bay.

Nestled on a hillside overlooking the San Francisco Bay, Ashton offers a modern, luxury high-rise apartment building with eco-living principles. Sounds pretty fancy for this neighborhood, which is close to a housing project. Lets take a look ...
Built in 2009 the Ashton San Francisco is a community of 110 units. Here's something unique: Ashton hosts a variety of environmentally friendly initiatives like a recycling center, a design focused on air quality, and special parking for low-emission, fuel-efficient and carpool vehicles.

Hmm? At $2,279 to $4,559 per unit (depending on the size), is this where rich Burning Man fans live? The complex comes complete with washer and dryer in every home, spa-inspired bathrooms, gourmet kitchens and walk-in closets. There's also a fitness center, HDTV lounge and aqua bar, elevated terrace with fire pit, and controlled entry parking garage.

So how does $2,279 to $4,559 compare to other places located in Bayview? Good-mama-God this place is expensive. Come on, $2,279 for a studio!? The walls better be lined with real gold. The rents in this area run the gamut from $1,350 for a 2-bedroom to $3,400 for a 5-bedroom house. Also, the Ashton is located right next to Hunter's Point which is one of the worst housing developments in San Francisco.
