Hyatt's Latest Deal Lures a Record Number of Travelers

Hyatt's latest loyalty promotion offers such a sweet deal that 20 percent more travelers are signing up to accrue benefits than in past promotions, Hyatt spokeswoman Farley Kern told USA Today.

The hotel's springtime deal, "The Big Welcome Back," offers Gold Passport members a free night (or 5,000 points) for every two stays. Members can earn unlimited free nights between March 26th and June 30th, 2010. Even better, there are no blackout dates if you redeem the nights between April 1st and August 31st, 2010.

Hyatt considers "eligible stays" one or more consecutive nights at any Hyatt hotel. Back-to-back stays at a single Hyatt are considered one stay, but guests can check out and check back in during a 24-hour period.

Since the points and free stays are available at Hyatt's worldwide, smart travelers are cashing in by buying rooms at less-expensive Hyatt Place Hotels and then using their free nights at pricier hotels, such as Park Hyatt Hotels.

To learn more or to sign up for your Hyatt Gold Passport, visit Hyatt's "Special Promotions" page. When signing up, you must choose whether you would like to earn free stays or bonus points -- and you cannot switch your earning preference once you commit. Current Gold Passport members must register to participate in the promotion.
