The chain is calling the event a Connect at the Corner initiative that encourages guests to reconnect with friends over a cup of coffee instead of texting, emailing and messaging online.

The irony, however, is that the face-to-face interactions are being encouraged through a Facebook application. In-person communication is still critical since the human brain receives most of its information through body language, facial expressions and tone of voice. However, instead of dismissing technology as a face-to-face deterrent, the Connect at the Corner program reinforces the use of technology to actually bring folks together the old-fashioned way – in person," the company said in a release.
