Sweet San Francisco Rental: Swanky Studio in North Beach, $2,500

I adore North Beach. Every time I journey to that part of town I feel like I'm on vacation. Besides having a slew of fantastic Italian restaurants, North Beach is the birthplace of the beatniks. Shades of Jack Kerouac can still be found at bars like Vesuvio right next to the legendary City Lights bookstore.

So pull out your bongos and live the beatnik dream in this junior one-bedroom apartment on the old stomping grounds of Kerouac and Ginsberg. Also close to the financial district, this would be an ideal locale for corporate housing as it comes fully furnished.

This is one of those cool, old-school apartments with lots of charm. The place looks like a piece of art, with the famous San Francisco cable cars and trolley close by.

What this unique, second-floor condo includes is a queen Murphy bed (for added space), a bar area, a washer/dryer on the same floor as the apartment, plus an exercise room and fitness center in this secure building. (Did I mention sauna and hot tub?)

The only thing questionable is the price. It seems like a heck of a lot for a junior one bedroom -- isn't it really a studio if it has a Murphy bed? -- but if your company is footing the bill for corporate housing, then why not?
