NCL Searches for 'Epic Talent'

Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian Cruise Line and USA Today have partnered up for a talent contest, in honor of the cruise line's newest addition, the Epic.

"Norwegian Epic is known for its groundbreaking, world-class entertainment offerings," Kevin Sheehan, NCL's chief executive officer, said in a press release. "Therefore, we wanted to take that a step further and search for tomorrow's star and give them a chance to showcase their epic talent during the ship's inaugural."

The "Search for the Epic Star" talent contest kicked off on Friday, and is accepting video submissions up to one minute long from "contestants who think their talent is 'epic'."

Dancers, singers, musicians, comics, and jugglers are all encouraged to apply. The winner will get to share the spotlight with other featured onboard talent, including world-famous acts like the Blue Man Group, and Cirque Dreams & Dinner.

Video submissions will be accepted until April 25th, when professional judges -- including representatives from the Blue Man Group, Cirque Productions, The Second City, and Legends in Concert -- will choose eight semi-finalists.

The eight videos will then be shared on USA Today's website throughout May, where the public will get a chance to vote for their favorites until June 13th.

Judges will choose from the top three scoring videos, and will announce the grand prize winner on June 18th.

Contestants must be at least 21-years-old, and reside in the U.S. or Canada. Submissions may contain solo artists, or groups of up to four performers. For more information, or for rules on how to enter, visit

Aside from performing on the ship's inaugural cruise in New York on July 2-4, the first place winner will also receive a 7-day Caribbean cruise for two aboard the new ship during the Epic's inaugural season.

The new ship will mark a series of first in onboard entertainment. Aside from being the first ship to carry the Blue Man Group, Epic will also be the first to debut Cirque Dreams. Another first is Nickelodeon at Sea, an option offering a variety of kid-friendly fun based on programming found on the children's network.

The ship will also boast the first ever Ice Bar and tube slide at sea.

The Epic is still currently under construction, and will be the company's largest ship to date. The vessel is expected to be completed in June of this year.
