Riding on the trend of offering healthier options, fast food giant McDonald's is expanding its menu, launching two new fruit smoothies. The slushy drinks would come in strawberry banana and wild berry flavors.

McDonald's announced the smoothies debut as part of the company's official launch of the 2010 Olympics activities worldwide. The company roped in gold medalists Cassie Campbell, Shawn Johnson, Picabo Street and Katarina Witt to promote the new drinks.

Looks like the company is really trying hard to shed its image of being a junk food hangout by associating itself with the biggest sporting event. Some bloggers are skeptical about the company's efforts at going healthy.

The company's location in the Main Media Center is expected to feed nearly 3,000 media members during the Olympics, and its two restaurants in the Olympic Villages in Vancouver and Whistler are expected to serve more than 10,000 athletes, coaches and officials.

Customers in the U.S. would have to wait until the summer to try the new drinks as part of the McCafe lineup. The company is unveiling the products at the three Olympic restaurants in Vancouver and Whistler, British Columbia sometime next week.
