Until recently, most travelers may have been oblivious to the existence of whole-body scanners. In the U.S, there are only 40 machines at 19 airports. But a Nigerian man's attempted Christmas Day bombing of a jetliner traveling from Amsterdam to Detroit has resulted in both U.S. and international officials ramping up the use of these scanners.
