SCORE, a nonprofit that helps small business owners start and maintain their companies, is sponsoring a free webinar on Thursday, Jan. 14, at noon Eastern time. "How to Really Start Your Own Business" will feature two successful small-biz owners giving their advice about how to start a company today, including how to focus your business idea and where to look for business financing.

Julie Brander, who ran a jewelry business for 20 years, and Steve Bloom, who has started multiple business ventures in mortgage banking and real estate, are both SCORE counselors who teach students and speak frequently to groups about business startups.
