How long have you lived in Santa Monica? 5 years
What do you love most about your neighborhood? The beach, which I visit almost every day. The air is clean, there is always an ocean breeze and the quality of life is very mellow and quiet.

Best kept secret in Santa Monica? Golden Mean Cafe: It's delicious, healthy food. They have the best desserts that are organic and vegan, but you would never know! And it's much more affordable than other organic restaurants.

Favorite way to spend a Saturday Night in your neighborhood? Taking a walk to the beach and ending up at a wine bar on Broadway.

Why Santa Monica? Santa Monicans make the conscious decision to live a clean life.

Santa Monica is one of the greenest cities in the country: It has a comprehensive recycling program and solar panels that light the beach. Plus, styrofoam has been been banned and electric vehicles are all the rage (almost every other car I see is a Hybrid or Prius). Most restaurants use biodegradable utensils if you get take out. The rest of LA needs to catch up!

It not all about that, is it? I'm a beach person, but I have easy access to other parts of LA, too. It's cooler in the summers...and right now, it's January and I'm sitting on the beach and people are running and biking and enjoying the beauty of Southern California. If I lived in other parts of L.A. I wouldn't get this -- at least not as much.

How do you see this cleaner living effect your day to day life? It becomes a part of your life. Organic food and markets are a big part of helping the environment and there are three or four a week in Santa Monica that I frequent. Something like the Santa Monica Co-op doesn't exist anywhere else in Los Angeles, and it helps local farms.

How do you stay healthy? Hiking, yoga, eating a delicious meal at Real Food Daily and, of course, my work. For my work I make house calls but my office is about a mile and a half from home, so most days I drive less than four miles a day. In my Prius, of course.

Do you plan to keep renting in Santa Monica? My fantasy is to live in the Santa Monica Canyon, but I'm planning to buy this year, and realistically I will probably have to move inland a bit. I want to buy a house so I can have solar panels and an organic garden, and to do that I won't be so close to the beach, but I will still come all the time.

It's all about the local color: I'm at the beach right now and there is a woman singing off key and super loud. You gotta love that!
