Acer laptops recalled due to risk of overheating

Updated

Acer is recalling six models of laptops after reports of short circuits that could cause users to get burned, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said.

A wire that goes to the internal microphone can overheat. The wire runs under the area where users would rest their palms.

About 22,000 of the Chinese-made computers are being recalled. They are in Acer's Aspire line, have 13.3-inch screens and the following model numbers: AS3410, AS3410T, AS3810T, AS3810TG, AS3810TZ and AS3810TZG. They were sold from June-October 2009 for $650-$1,150.
