Bejeweled Blitz for iPhone/iPod Touch Launches for Free

Last week's exclusive news that Bejeweled Blitz was coming to iPhone/iPod Touch reignited interest in Bejeweled 2 on the App Store as the game's maker announced that it would release the new Blitz mode as a free update. Today, PopCap lived up to that promise by making the Bejeweled Blitz update available via the App Store.

If you already own Bejeweled 2 on iPhone/iPod Touch, just go into the App Store via your device and update the game. For those that don't have the game, it's available for US$2.99. Once downloaded, you'll need to log in with your Facebook account in order to compete with friends on the social networking service as well as post your latest winning result.

Emulating the success of Bejeweled Blitz on Facebook, the App update features all the bonus multipliers, laser gems, star metals and real-time jem swapping. For players with a bad connection, the game's offline mode will store the results of any game and upload those scores once a WiFi or AT&T connection is reestablished.
