There's been a lot of buzz around a new Crop Whisperer achievement in FarmVille, where -- if you fertilize 100 people's crops -- you will win a Crop Whisperer ribbon. Fertilizer can be had by visiting and helping friends' farms -- scaring away foxes, pulling weeds -- and once you're done the task, five bags of fertilizer, aka Super Grow, will suddenly appear on the bottom left hand corner of the game.
The problem is that only a random few have gotten their hands on these fertilizers, and there were a lot of other murky details on this new farming feature. Instead of lounging in our rest tents, we tracked down FarmVille Senior Producer David Gray and asked him to clarify a few details.
What's the likelihood that someone will receive the random fertilizer when they visit friends?
We've been steadily rolling out the privilege to a random set of players. Soon, everybody can fertilize, but for now anybody can have their farm fertilized by these players. Any crop that is 0%-90% grown may be fertilized.
When you get the fertilizer at a friend's farm -- do you have to use it at that particular friends' farm -- or can you use it on a different friend's farm?
Players receive exactly five fertilizers per friend per day. Once you leave someone's farm, you cannot save/use the unused fertilizer.
Aside from crops growing bigger, how many more coins and experience points do you earn from fertilized crops?
Players receive 1XP for each harvested premium crop. This could be a huge boost for players with many willing neighbors and a large number of crops!
Can any crop be fertilized?
Only those crops that are 0%-90% grown may be fertilized.
As an aside, when will flowers show up in the game? (this question was submitted before flowers appeared in the game)
We released our first set of flower crops on Thursday, October 22nd. Look for some cool new features involving our flowers in the short weeks ahead.
