According to statistics just released by the U.S. Census Bureau, the difference between the highest-earning state (Maryland) and the lowest (Mississippi) is a whopping $32,755. Adjusting for the relative costs of living, a Mississippi resident of Biloxi would have to earn $55,977.89 to match the living standard of this average Maryland worker.
