Stocks set for a higher start after recent losses

U.S. stocks are set to emerge out of their recent declines Thursday following three straight days of losses. Sentiment improved after the Federal Reserve said Wednesday the outlook on the economy brightened in August and was followed by encouraging statements Thursday from the OECD. Merger action also helped to boost stocks. Still, jobs and retail data are ahead this morning and could affect the market in any direction.
