Bob Dylan's voice on your GPS? There must be some kinda way outa here...

I grew up with my head resting on a stack of Bob Dylan albums, so I speak the lingo. Now we learn that he's in talks with GPS makers about providing his voice.

Those unfamiliar with the eccentric way he stresses syllables, however, might find his direction-giving a bit...diverting. All too many might be relieved to hear him sing "Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I'll Go Mine)."

Celebrity GPS voices have become the ring tones of 2009, easy to buy and quick to grow wearisome. Can you imagine taking a trip with Gary Busey shouting directions at you? He's available, for $12.95, straitjacket not included.

There are some voices that I would rather spend a month lost in the woods that hear on my GPS, and a few I'd welcome. Who would be on your lists?

Voices I would not care to hear giving me directions (in addition to my spouse's, of course):

  1. Edith Bunker

  2. Bob Goldthwait

  3. Porky Pig

  4. Professor Erwin Corey

  5. Jerry Lewis

  6. Fran Drescher

  7. Rush Limbaugh

  8. Billy Mays

  9. Scooby Doo

  10. Mr. Ed

Those voices I would welcome include:

  1. Captain Beefheart

  2. Katherine Hepburn

  3. The Mystery Science Theater 3000 crew

  4. Satchel Paige

  5. Marlon Perkins

  6. Captain Kangaroo

  7. Clutch Cargo
