The well known women at are stopping by WalletPop on a frequent basis to answer your spending and personal finance questions.
This week we asked them: What kind of negotiator are you? How do you approach negotiation? What was a memorable negotiation that worked?

You can find their full responses on

candace bergenCandice Bergen: If there were some form of recognition for Most Inept Negotiator -- it would be engraved with my name and on my shelf. The biggest negotiation I went through was during my 10 years on "Murphy." The first re-negotiation, I threw up. Not in front of the group but still. My shark-like lawyer complained that I was too professional, too sane. All the tricks like not showing up for work were not things I'd even consider. "You're too polite!!" he complained ...

marlo thomasMarlo Thomas: I'm a killer when it comes to negotiating on behalf of St. Jude. Kids' lives are on the line, so there's no compromising with me about anything ...

liz smithLiz Smith: I am a terrible negotiator. I collapse. I give in instantly. I don't have the mind or heart of a negotiator ...

Julia Reed: I am a major wimp and the worst negotiator in the history of the world, and I get worse as I get older ... Thank god I've got a great agent (Binky Urban) or I swear I'd probably write books for free. I think I got two raises that were more than like two percent in the entire time I worked for Vogue. Lately, I've had to be raising money in earnest for the Ogden Museum of Southern Art in New Orleans ... I've found that I'm far more comfortable in that role. It's a cause way bigger and a lot more important than me.

Sheila Nevins: I'm a terrible negotiator. I have often left the negotiating table for fear of appearing too anxious about wanting a project. When I want something it means the world to me. I don't act cool ...

Joan Ganz Cooney: My husband would say that I couldn't negotiate with a five year old about bed time (untrue). What is true is I hate confrontations and arguments so in business, I trust lawyers ... is a Web site aimed at influential women over 40, much like its distinguished founders and contributors, which include Marlo Thomas, Lesley Stahl, Candice Bergen, Liz Smith, Joni Evans, Mary Wells and Whoopi Goldberg.
