Julia Reed: I am a major wimp and the worst negotiator in the history of the world, and I get worse as I get older ... Thank god I've got a great agent (Binky Urban) or I swear I'd probably write books for free. I think I got two raises that were more than like two percent in the entire time I worked for Vogue. Lately, I've had to be raising money in earnest for the Ogden Museum of Southern Art in New Orleans ... I've found that I'm far more comfortable in that role. It's a cause way bigger and a lot more important than me.
Joan Ganz Cooney: My husband would say that I couldn't negotiate with a five year old about bed time (untrue). What is true is I hate confrontations and arguments so in business, I trust lawyers ...
