Stocks snap seven-day streak, fall on mixed earnings news

Updated

Stocks' seven-day winning streak is over. After climbing more than 9 percent over parts of two weeks, the Dow Jones industrial average slid 37 points, or 0.4 percent, to close at 8,881 today.

Coca-Cola (KO) and Boeing (BA) were among the Dow's biggest losers. Coke, the world's largest maker of soft drinks fell 2.42 percent after it reported second-quarter revenue that fell short of analysts' expectations. Boeing, meanwhile, dropped 2.37 percent on investor pessimism over its much-delayed Dreamliner.
