Stocks poised for a lower start ahead of more earnings

U.S. stocks were set to start Wednesday's trading session on a lower note. It seems that after seven straight days of blue chip gains, investors wanted to take some profits and step back from the mostly positive corporate earnings to assess the situation amidst a still weak global economy.

Today, investors await yet another wave of bellwether earnings, including more financials, as well as Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke's second day of testimony on Capitol Hill.
