So eat already: NYC Summer 2009 Restaurant Week is in full gear
The official "Great Taste of Summer" kickoff event was on July 9 at the Shops at Columbus Circle. This event featured gourmet tastings from several participating restaurants and special guests including Eat Out NY host Kelly Choi (love her), and the cast of the hit Broadway remake of Hair.
This year marks the 18th year for NYC Restaurant Week. It will now last for three weeks instead of two, extending from July 12 – 31 (excluding Saturdays). Some restaurants may not participate on Sundays.
The prices will remain the same for this year: *Excluding drinks, taxes, and tips*
• $24.07 for 3-course prix-fixe lunches.
• $35.00 for 3-course prix-fixe dinners.
More than 250 restaurants are participating in NYC Restaurant Week this year. Among them are Nobu, Craftbar, Mesa Grill, and Tribeca Grill. Residents and visitors can make reservations on the NYC Go website.
Sponsorships also mean great deals for you! Check out these two:
Dine out three or more times at participating restaurants during NYC Restaurant Week and pay for it with your American Express Card, you can receive a $15 statement credit.
Sponsor JetBlue is offering cheapo flights into the Big Apple for Restaurant Week, and also hosting a sweepstakes, in which the lucky winner will get a flight to NYC, a stay at one of the city's notable hotels, a $500 AMEX gift card and meals at participating restaurants. Fill out an entry form here.
NY Tourism needs to advertise these deals more effectively. I had to find out from a good friend via Twitter. I then checked to see if the I Love NY (official tourism company for NY State) had a twitter page, which it does, but has zero tweets and only 20 followers!
Who needs them, when you have WalletPop on your side?
