Senate to grill cell providers about high texting fees

Updated

The Senate Judiciary Committee is expected to take a hard line with cell phone executives at a hearing about the escalating cost of sending text messages.

The hearing, at 2:30 p.m. June 19, was brought on in part by the concerned voice of Wisconsin Sen. Herb Kohl.

A story from News Junkie indicates that Kohl suspects cell phone companies are taking advantage of consumers by simply exploiting the popularity of text messaging. It would seem that the senator expects that cell companies must justify rapid rate increases using something more than the pursuit of profit principle.
