Stocks poised to gain at the open ahead of data

U.S. stocks were set for a higher start Friday as investors still digested news of Chrysler's bankruptcy announced Thursday and its possible imlications. Concerns over the financial sector remained ahead of stress test results scheduled to be released Monday.

But stocks could change direction once economic data starts to pour in not long after the open. Auto sales for April will also be released today.
