Fun contest alert: especially for those in or near Arizona
It involves guessing when Phoenix, Arizona, will have its first day where the temperature reaches 100 degrees.
It's sponsored by the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors National Assocation's Arizona Chapter, and it's their fifth year doing this.
Those who guess correctly win a weekend getaway at the Intercontinental Montelucia Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona, including a two-night stay for two, two 60-minute customized massage treatments and breakfast for two at Prado Restaurant.
It kind of stinks for those who live faraway from Arizona because the contest isn't going to pay for airfare. But, hey, free is free, and I just thought it was an amusing idea for a contest--and for those of us stuck in the frigid parts of the country, it can serve as a reminder that spring and summer are coming. Eventually.
So if you're interested in participating, click here and be prepared to provide your contact information and the date and time you think the first 100-degree reading will happen (it's taken at the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport). Last year, the mercury hit 100 on May 18.
The contest naturally ends on the day the temperature hits 100.
