Need a job? The federal payroll will keep growing as the economy tanks

The economy's tanking and your job might not feel as secure as it did a few months ago but you can take comfort in one thing: The federal bureaucracy isn't shedding any jobs and is expected to add more as President Obama's plans take effect.

For recently laid-off job hunters, this could represent an opportunity. The Associated Press reports that the number of older workers looking into government jobs is on the rise. Many people correctly perceive that once you secure one of those jobs, your days of fretting over job security are over.

If you're willing to swallow your pride and go work for The Man, there are a number of Websites out there to help government job seekers. GovernmentJobs.com has listings of tons of jobs in the bureaucracy. There's also USAJOBS.gov, the "Official Jobs Site of the United States Federal Government.

For college students and recent grads, the cleverly titled StudentJobs.gov has listings of positions that are ideal for entry-level workers.
