Adultvest.com offers to hook you up in the porn business

In a past episode of Weeds, several characters stumble into a porn shoot, and reveal a secret desire to be part of the industry. Such lust must have been the inspiration for the Adultvest.com business plan. While much has been made of the investment focus of the site, within thirty seconds of logging on to the site I could see what the real pitch is. Put up your money and you too might find yourself rubbing 'elbows' with porn stars. Just listen to the cartoon character's message closely.

The site pitches personal investments in productions, adult businesses, or the careers of the actors. It also claims to find investment opportunities for hedge funds, capital funds, private equity, and others looking to heat up their portfolios.

Jokes aside, the site was created by Francis Koenig, an experienced hedge fund executive who set out to expose the $12 billion a year industry to investors. To date, the site claims 4,851 registered investors, 1163 adult businesses, and 3,613 due diligence requests. Those could be interesting...

Perhaps there is a way for investors to play this market to their benefit. However, it's been my experience that the human male has only enough blood in his system to power his brain or his daddy parts, but not both at the same time. Therefore, a dispassionate appraisal of the risks and rewards of a porn portfolio might be hard to come by.
