National Lampoon execs charged with fraud: Seriously. No, really

Updated

Remember this line from National Lampoon's Vacation? "Clark: I'm making out a check for $1,000, all you have to do is give me $300 in cash and keep the $700, all for doing nothing more than acting like a total creep. " Apparently, the execs at National Lampoon missed the joke. The Feds busted them today for acting like total creeps, inflating the company's stock by paying people to buy and hold shares.

According to the AP, prosecutors believe that the execs stood to make millions on the inflated value of their holdings. Over the past three years, the stock has lost 73% of its value.

I'm wondering if Christmas 2009 will see the release of National Lampoon's Prison Stretch, or perhaps Animal House: Leavenworth.
