Drunk dialing 911 while driving not recommended

Updated

For some reason, calling 911 while you're behind the wheel of a moving car and telling them that you're too drunk to drive is probably not a good idea. A Wisconsin woman now has a $740 ticket for operating while intoxicated for doing just that.

Pat Dykstra called 911 after her boyfriend (who was apparently drunker than she was) told her she should do it. During the call, she told the operator that her boyfriend thought she had too much to drink and shouldn't be driving. She also told the operator that she thought she should get off the phone because it wasn't safe to talk on the phone while driving.

By the time police caught up with her, she was at home in her pajamas. But they gave her a breathalyzer test and she blew a 14... almost twice the legal limit. So let that be a lesson to you. If you're going to drive drunk, do not call the police and tell on yourself. It's expensive.
