Former Blink-182 drummer sues Rockstar drink company over photo

Updated

Former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker has sued the Rockstar energy drink company for posting a picture of drinking one of their beverages on the company's website.

I think Barker is actually serious. The lawsuit alleges that Rockstar posted a picture of him "holding a can of one of Rockstar's beverages, and identifying him and his endorsement by name".

Oh no! Not that! He is seeking unspecified punitive and statutory damages for invasion of privacy, unfair competition, and misappropriating his likeness to promote their product.

Unbelievable. I don't know whether this is a publicity stunt to get his name back in the news, given that his current band, +44, has failed to match the success of Blink-182, or if he is genuinely that angry about a photo on a website.

On its website, Rockstar features photos of numerous celebrities with their beverages. If this lawsuit has any merit, the company could be in trouble. I doubt they're losing sleep.
