Never get stung by a price drop again: The promise of Priceprotectr.com

Updated

For Christmas, I bought my wife a certain electronic device (can't tell you what, she reads my posts sometimes) from Amazon at what I thought was a good price. However, I've been stung before with purchases that are undercut shortly thereafter by a price drop. What's a shopper to do?

A new internet service, priceprotectr.com, promises to take care of that problem for me. It claims to track prices at 70 merchants, including biggies like Amazon.com, Circuit City, J.C. Penney, Office Depot, and Wal-mart, and will help me get money back on any item I buy, if its sale price drops within 30 days of my purchase.

The service is a snap to use. Using my purchase as an example; I looked up the Amazon page on which this device was listed, and pasted the URL into the priceprotectr.com page. It found the the price I had paid for the item and promised to email me if Amazon dropped the price within the next 30 days, so I could recover the difference.

It seems like a valuable service, one worth your consideration. I'll let you know if it pings me with some good news on my wife's gift.
