Man killed, woman injured after shooting at Goodyear Heights apartment complex Wednesday
Authorities are investigating a shooting in Goodyear Heights early Wednesday that left a 20-year-old male dead and another injured, according to the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office.
At about 4:15 a.m., multiple 911 calls reported shots fired outside an apartment complex in the 1900 block of Newton Street, Gary Guenther with the Medical Examiner's Office said in a release. First responders found one of the victims on the ground in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:40 a.m., Guenther said.
A second victim, a 58-year-old woman, was transported to a local hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Akron Police Department.
The victims' names are being withheld pending further investigation. The Medical Examiner's Office will provide an update on 20-year-old's identity once next-of-kin are notified, Guenther said.
The Medical Examiner's Office and Akron police are investigating the incident.
