2 Tri-Cities children hurt, 1 flown to Spokane hospital, after Highway 395 crash

A Pasco boy was flown to a Spokane hospital and another girl was hurt in a Friday afternoon crash about four miles north of Pasco.

Neither child was buckled in, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Beatriz Arreguin, 50, of Kennewick, was driving west on Phend Road about 2:40 p.m. when she failed to yield at Highway 395, according to the WSP.

Her 2002 Nissan Sentra crashed into a 2002 Honda Accord driven north by Maria Muniz Susunaga, 35, of Pasco, said troopers.

Muniz Susunaga’s passengers were Abel Ruiz Muniz, 4, and Lucia Ruiz Muniz, 8.

Abel was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, and Lucia was flown to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, according to the WSP. Lucia was in stable condition Saturday but no condition was immediately available for Abel.

Neither of the drivers were injured.

Arreguin could be charged with negligent driving in the second degree, according to the WSP.
