2 fatally shot outside Puerto Vallarta gay bar: reports

Two men were killed Tuesday morning outside a gay bar in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

According to the Puerto Vallarta Daily News, the incident took place shortly after 4 a.m. outside Paco’s Ranch, one of the city’s most popular LGBTQ establishments.

Puerto Vallarta is a resort town on Mexico’s Pacific coast famous for its vibrant nightlife and stunning beaches. The city is especially popular among gay men.

According to local media, the incident took place inside the bar, which was hosting an HIV fundraiser.

Two people got into an altercation. One person reportedly left and came back with a gun, when he fatally shot two men.

CPS Noticias reported that local police were informed of the incident at 4:57 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found two victims covered in blood. One of them was found dead at the scene. The other was transported to a local hospital in an ambulance, but later died.

Police are still looking for a suspect.

The Tribuna de La Bahía newspaper slammed Paco’s Ranch for not following social distancing guidelines.

It reported that a video of the event showed that most attendees were not wearing a face mask, and that proper distancing was not followed.

It added that it was not the first time during the COVID-19 pandemic that LGBTQ bars and clubs are seen “overflowing with customers.”

Neighbors reportedly complained to city officials that the venue wasn’t following proper social distancing guidelines, but health inspectors never showed up.

On Wednesday, due to a high incidence of new COVID-19 cases in the area the state’s governor announced a series of new measures to help curb the spread of the deadly coronavirus.

Starting on Friday, all beaches in Puerto Vallarta will close at 3 p.m.; businesses must close by 8:30 p.m., with the exception of essential businesses; and public transportation and all car services, must stop operations at 10 p.m.
