'16 and Pregnant' Alum Sean Garinger Dead at 20 After Tragic Accident

Sean Garinger of '16 & Pregnant'

Sean Garinger, known for appearing on MTV's 16 and Pregnant, has tragically died as the result of a fatal ATV accident. He was just 20 years old.

His mother, Mary Hobbs, confirmed the devastating news to the U.S. Sun, sharing that her son died on Feb. 28 at his home in Boone, North Carolina. According to Hobbs, who was present at the time of her son's death, Garinger was moving an ATV from one parking spot to another when the freak accident occurred.

"He was just moving [the ATV] from one parking spot to the next for me, so I could back in to park," she told the outlet. "He pulled [in] front of me to park the ATV and the ground gave way from all the rain and mud."

As a result, the ATV flipped over and "crushed" Garinger's skull as it landed on top of him.

"I ran to neighbors trying to get someone to help me get the ATV off of him. No one answered. I ran back to him," the grieving mother recalled. "By that time, I realized he wasn't alive anymore."

Hobbs, 40, said she "laid next to him" until the paramedics arrived.

Garinger was first featured on Season 6 of the reality series alongside his ex Selena Guitierrez. The pair shared two children together—daughters Dareli and Esmi.

In addition to his mother and his two daughters, Garginer is survived by his six sisters, Shania, Lydia, Isabella, Ember, Kayden and Casslyn, according to his obituary.

"There was a huge part of my heart that died with my son on Wednesday," Garinger's mother added to the U.S. Sun. "He was my only son, my rock, my strength when I had none left."

"Sean brightened my world in a way no one else could ever come close to. He was my baby boy, my squishy, my heartbeat," she added.

A service honoring Garinger's life was held on Saturday, March. 2.
