The 16 girls high school basketball All-Stars who shone on the court this season.

After combing over statistics and results, and with the guidance of local athletic directors and coaches, we at the Daily News selected All-Stars for boys and girls basketball, boys and girls hockey, boys and girls swimming, boys and girls track and field, gymnastics, skiing and boys and girls wrestling.

Although the sports and skill sets may vary, there’s no denying that this group put up otherworldly numbers this winter while helping their respective teams find success – whether that be on the court, field, ice, mat or track, or in the gym or pool.

The Daily News presents its 2023-24 All-Stars for girl basketball:

Sam Collette, Hudson

A senior captain, Collette is a three-time Mid-Wach C All-Star, earning first team honors in 2023 and ‘24. She averaged 11.4 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game for the Hawks. The five-season varsity member scored a season-high 21 points against Westborough. Collette is also a four-year varsity softball player. “Sam is one of the most dedicated, hardest working two-way players I have ever coached,” said coach Marty Murphy. “She has a quiet intensity to her game that was such a pleasure to watch. She often ended up with loose balls and rebounds she had no business getting to. Versatile athletes like Sam only come around every so often.”

Anna Freeman, Medway

A Tri-Valley League All-Star, Freeman averaged a double-double (11.7 points, 10.7 rebounds) for the Mustangs. Freeman shot 53% from the field and averaged 2.0 blocks per game. She made the All-Tournament Team at the Westborough Tournament. “She was our leading scorer and rebounder and also led the team in FG percentage,” said coach Joe Iannone. “She is also one of our most improved players due to her hard work and effort. She helped lead us to the Final Four and we couldn’t have done it without her.”

Caroline Galvani, Framingham

The Westfield State University-bound guard was the Flyers’ second-leading scorer and a Bay State Conference All-Star. This senior also volunteers for Unified basketball. She scored 214 points, had 50 assists and shot 75% from the free throw line. “Throughout her four years as a varsity member of the Flyers, Caroline has consistently proven herself to be a hard-working and dedicated individual,” said coach Kristen Audet-Fucarile. “Her passion for the game, combined with her natural leadership skills, make her an invaluable asset to any team.”

Lindsey Grattan, Millis

The Tri-Valley League All-Star and three-year varsity member averaged 11.9 points, 5.2 assists and 3.1 steals per game. The team MVP and junior has 507 career points. She will be a soccer captain next year and also plays softball. Gratton is part of the Leo Club and Mohawk Council. She is an assistant coach for the Millis 6th grade girls MetroWest travel basketball team, which recently won a New England championship. “Lindsey is the motor that makes us go,” said coach Dave Fallon. “Her speed, shooting and passing make her a dangerous player in the open court.”

Chosen as the Tri-Valley League Small MVP after averaging 15.4 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. The two-time TVL All-Star also averaged 2.5 assists. The senior finished her career with 955 points and averaged 12.1 ppg. A member of National Honor Society, SADD, Red Cross Club, and Women’s Group. Interests include photography, baking, reading, word games and running. Will play basketball at Hamilton College. “Erica’s leadership doesn’t come from commanding words but from quiet actions that speak volumes. She leads by example, showing up early, staying late, and giving her all in every practice and game,” said coach Kanee Chlebda.

A Tri-Valley League All-Star, this junior averaged 10.7 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. The Tri-Valley League All-Star and MVP of the Westborough tournament shot 31% on 3-point attempts and averaged 2.1 steals per game. She is a National Honor Society member. "Olivia is one of the hardest workers I’ve ever coached," said coach Joe Iannone. "She spends countless hours in the gym and works tirelessly to be the best player she can be. She is a wonderful player, who helped lead us to the Final Four, and we would not be the same team without her."

Isabella Miele, Marlborough

One of the top scorers in Central Mass., this sophomore averaged 21.2 points, a total that led the Mid-Wach regardless of division. Miele scored a season-high 35 points against Shepherd Hill, including 10 free throws. A regular for the Daily News’ weekly Fantastic Five and as consistent as they come: Meile averaged 21.4 points last season and her season high of 33 points came against Shepherd Hill. She has scored in double figures in every game over the past two seasons.

After averaging 13.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game, both team highs, the sophomore was named to the Dual County League All-Star team. Poland shot 80% from the free throw line. The two-year varsity starter also plays club basketball for the Mass Huskies and Nike EYCL. A volunteer coach for youth basketball. “Sarah showed tremendous growth this year as a go-to scorer,” said L-S coach Howie Landau. “She was asked to do a lot even as an underclassman, and thrived in whatever roles we needed. She’s a great teammate and has an incredibly high ceiling with her work ethic.”

Allie Regan, Framingham

A two-time Bay State Conference All-Star and this year’s team MVP, this junior captain was the third highest scorer in the BSC. She scored 388 points and had a career-high 30 against Attleborough; Regan is 151 points away from 1,000. She plays for the Mass Huskies and is a member of National Honor Society. “Allie has proven herself to be a fierce leader both on and off the court,” said coach Kristen Audet-Fucarile. “She has displayed exceptional leadership qualities that have greatly contributed to the team's success. Her dedication, work ethic, and positive attitude have set her apart as a role model for her teammates.”

Ava Renneker, Wayland

The Dual County League Foley MVP, this senior captain averaged 15 points, four rebounds, four steals and four assists per game. The four-year varsity player was named to the all-tournament team at the Westborough Invitational and has played AAU basketball with the Mass Huskies since fifth grade. Renneker is a member of the National Art Honor Society and Crochet Club. She also participates in track and field as well as volunteering for Buddy Dog.

The runner-up for Mid-Wach B MVP set two school records (free throw attempts, 149; and free throws made, 108). Her free throws made led all of Central Mass. This senior captain averaged 14.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.6 steals per game and was named an Academic and MWB All-Star. She made the All-Tournament team for Westborough's annual tournament. Sams also plays lacrosse and soccer and is a National Honor Society member. “Kate had an unbelievable senior season. Her play was on a different level,” said coach Erin Studivan. “Without Kate, the team would not have been as successful. She was the backbone of our team.”

Annabelle Semeter, Westborough

Averaged 16.1 points, which ranked her second in the Mid-Wach B. This senior scored a career-high 32 points against Marlborough. Her career scoring average is 14.9 ppg and she is an 80% career free throw shooter. A captain for Westborough’s basketball and volleyball teams. Plays for CMF (Central Mass. Fundamentals). Will attend Hamilton College.

The junior captain already has 1,179 career points and led the Tri-Valley League in scoring at 21.6 points per game. A three-time team MVP and two-time TVL All-Star, Simpson scored a season-high 41 points against Grafton and averaged 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 2.0 assists per game. The ‘A’ student has won awards for Highest Honors in math and science. Works at St. Mary’s Church and is a Mission Trip volunteer and group leader. “I think of Megan as an all-around basketball player, not just a scorer,” said coach Kurt Lorenzen. “She is a great teammate, very competitive, and her main goal is to win.”

Sasha Tracey, Franklin

A Hockomock League All-Star, Tracey averaged 14 points per game and made 35 3-pointers on the season. The senior is also the team's top defender. She was also a setter on the Franklin girls volleyball team. "Sasha is a special athlete who led our team as one of our captains and leading scorer," said coach John Leighton.

Shannon Welburn, Wellesley

The Bay State League’s Carey Division MVP, this sophomore already has 526 career points. Welburn averaged 14.9 points, 7.4 rebounds and 3.2 steals per game and helped the Raiders win the league title for the first time in four years. Also plays soccer and tennis and is an Honor Roll student. Enjoys skiing and golfing. “Shannon is a tireless worker, who plays with a ton of energy and passion,” said coach Glen Magpiong. “She sees the court well, can play several positions and has great basketball instincts. Shannon has a ton of upside and I’m excited to see how she develops.”

A team MVP and Colonial Athletic League All-Star, Whittier completed her fourth varsity season averaging 14.4 points per game as a junior. She made the All-Tournament Team for the Marlborough Tip-Off and has 809 career points. Whittier has also played varsity soccer and tennis as well as track and field, where she qualified for States in the 4x100 relay and 200 meters. Also a member of National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Student Government, Principal's Council and is the membership chair of Leaders of Tomorrow. Volunteer for Breast Cancer awareness and UNICEF.
