15-year-old Louisiana girl stabbed to death at grocery store, four girls arrested

A fight between a group of girls, all between 12 and 15, at a Louisiana grocery store turned deadly.

A 15-year-old girl, who has not been publicly identified, was stabbed during a fight at a Lake Charles market Saturday night and pronounced dead at the local hospital, according to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Four girls, one 14, two 13 and one 12, were arrested and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center.

One is charged with second-degree murder and three are charged with principal to second-degree murder, officials said without signifying which girl faces which charges.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Tony Mancuso said Sunday that the knives used to stab the girl were stolen from the grocery store.

“It is really heartbreaking when we have to come in and pick up the pieces because so many families are damaged after this,” he said at a press conference.

“Our whole case unfolded before us through live Facebook and Instagram … we have videos of everything that took place and it’s very disturbing. The whole murder was played out on (social media) so, again, there appeared to be no remorse. It was very cold to see 12, 13, 14 and 15-year-olds acting this way and we as a society can’t tolerate it. We cannot let this plague and take over our community.”
