Here are 14 local restaurants open on Thanksgiving

EVANSVILLE – Are you feeling like dining out this Thanksgiving rather than cooking and hosting (and cleaning and stressing) at home? Here are local restaurants that will be open on Thanksgiving. Remember to make reservations. Some locations didn't have all the details finalized yet, so there are links and phone numbers if you need more information.

Cavanaugh’s

421 NW Riverside Drive, inside the Riverfront Event Center on Level Two; 812-433-4333.

Cavanaugh's on the River steakhouse at Bally's Evansville Casino will be open regular hours of 5-9 p.m. on Thanksgiving day, serving the regular elegant menu of steaks, chops, seafood and more. A $90 per person party menu for groups of 12 or more is available with 48 hours notice and includes bread; coffee and tea; a choice of salad; an entrée choice from beef filet, salmon, chicken breast or shrimp pasta with family-style sides; and either chocolate torte or turtle cheesecake.

The Carousel Restaurant

5115 Monroe Ave.; 812-479-6388.

At the Carousel restaurant, enjoy a Thanksgiving feast with turkey, ham, sides, pie and drink for $15.99t. Hours will be 6:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.; reservations are recommended.

Comfort by the Cross-Eyed Cricket

230 Main St.; 812-909-3742.

Comfort will be open from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. serving a Thanksgiving buffet featuring ham, turkey, chicken and dumplings, roast beef, and Mexican chicken with all the trimmings, salads and dessert. Price is $35 for adults and $25 for children and seniors over 60. In the fourth-floor event space, prime rib will be added to the buffet for an additional $10. Children two and under eat free.

The Cross-Eyed Cricket

2101 W. Lloyd Expressway; 812-422-6464.

Hours will be 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Breakfast will be served and at lunch time there will be a limited Thanksgiving menu with turkey and dressing, baked ham or chicken and dumplings with sides and dessert. Or, call to order family catering with three pounds of meat, chicken and dumplings, sides and a whole pie for $75 for pickup on Tuesday Nov. 21 or Wednesday Nov. 22.

The Diner by Mele’s

Hours will be 7 a.m.-3 p.m. with several special thanksgiving dishes on the menu .

The Friendship Diner

834 Tutor Lane; 812-402-0201.

The Friendship diner will be open regular hours of 6:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. on Thanksgiving with a menu of homestyle favorites.

Golden Buddha Chinese Restaurants

3221 Taylor Ave, Evansville; 812-473-4855, and 5066 Indiana 261, Newburgh; 812-853-2680.

Both Golden Buddha restaurants in Evansville and Newburgh will be open normal hours, from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. with regular Chinese menu offerings.

Journey Fish & Chicken

825 S. Green River Road; 812-303-2420.

Journey will be open regular hours, from 10:30 a.m.-11:45 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. The menu includes fried whole chicken wings and buffalo wings, chicken tenders, fried fish, shrimp, gyros and more.

The Red Geranium

504 North St., New Harmony, Indiana; 812-682-4431.

A special Thanksgiving three-course meal will be served from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Red Geranium. The menu includes a choice of pumpkin bisque, Caesar or crisp apple salad; a choice of entrees including roasted turkey, salmon, Cajun seafood pasta and others, and a choice of dessert. Entrees are priced differently. Call for reservations at 1-800-782-8605.

Sauced

A free community Thanksgiving buffet will be served from 11 a.m.-2 p.m on Thanksgiving, courtesy of the Haynie’s Corner Arts District. Dishes will include roast turkey and all the traditional sides.

Savannah’s Café

Savannah’s will be open for breakfast and lunch on Thanksgiving day, from 6 a.m.-2 p.m. Choose turkey and dressing or ham with either mashed or sweet potatoes, corn, green beans, cranberry relish and a choice of pumpkin pie or chocolate cake for $16.99.

Walton’s

956 Parrett St.; 812-467-4255.

Walton's will be serving a special Thanksgiving buffet from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. with beef brisket, ham, turkey and pork entrees with all the sides. Price is $22 for adults and $15 for kids.

Yang's Shabu Shabu

4700 Vogel Road; 812-471-8889.

Yang’s Shabu Shabu will be open normal hours of 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m. serving the dinner menu all day. To eat shabu shabu, choose your broth then choose raw proteins, vegetables and noodles to cook right at the table. Mix your own dipping sauces from the sauce bar. A full Chinese menu is also offered.
