YOU NEVER KNOW what you're going to get when it comes to horror movies. Taking stock at the beginning of the year, the landscape can feel messy and confusing, but over time the real gems of the year will begin to shape. Sometimes, unexpected films will become major hits with audiences, like 2023's M3GAN. Or you could have a major reboot of a franchise, like 2022's Scream (and its 2023 sequel, Scream VI). There's no telling what audiences will fall in love with.
While we have no idea what's going to surprise us this year, it's always fun to guess. 2024 has a number of notable and exciting releases on the horizon, from Lisa Frankenstein in February all the way to Nosferatu at the end end of the year. There's a hopeful reboot like The Crow, prequels like A Quiet Place: Day One and Alien: Romulus, and English-language remakes like Speak No Evil. While it may not sound very inspiring to have so many re-dos on the horizon, it's always interesting to see how different directors take previously made material and make it their own. If successful, it could mean the start of whole new slews of movies.
Whether you're excited for horror-comedies this year, or want a real spooky experience, there's a movie coming out for you. Horror fans have a lot to look forward to in 2024, all the way to the very end of the year. Here's all the biggest and most exciting horror movies coming out in 2024.
Lisa Frankenstein
Kathryn Newton and Cole Sprouse star in this horror comedy about a goth girl who reanimates a corpse and sets out to make him her perfect man in every way.
Immaculate
Sydney Sweeney's next big release is Immaculate. The Euphoria and Anyone But You star plays a woman who is newly introduced to a convent in the Italian countryside. But her new home turns out to be far more sinister than she could ever have expected.
Late Night With the Devil
This 2023 Sundance release is finally coming to a theater near you. David Dastmalchian (The Suicide Squad) stars as a TV talk show host from the 70s in this found footage horror film. On Halloween night, a guest segment with a parapsychologist goes awry when she presents the subject of her book, a girl who is the sole survivor of a Satanic church's mass suicide.
Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire
It may not be horror in the spooky sense, but Godzilla and Kong are two notable horror icons teaming up in this upcoming action flick. After the success of Godzilla vs. Kong (and following up on Apple TV+'s Monarch series), Warner Bros. is back with another entry in the MonsterVerse franchise. Rebecca Hall, Bryan Tyree Henry, Dan Stevens, and Kaylee Hottle are set to star.
Cuckoo
We had high hopes Hunter Schafer's Cuckoo would appear in 2023, but the odds are looking good for a 2024 release. According to Bloody Disgusting, the film is set for a theatrical release in May! The plot is under wraps, but there's a trailer out now, teasing a weird and potentially gory story.
Release Date: May 3, 2024
The Watchers
The Watchers is the debut filmmaker for Ishana Shyamalan (daughter of M. Night!) and it stars Dakota Fanning as a woman who ends up stranded in a mysterious forest in Ireland. As she explores the landscape, she discovers three other people who are all stalked by strange creatures at night.

Alien: Romulus
Set between the events of Alien and Aliens, this newest entry in the long-running horror franchise stars Isabela Merced and Cailee Spaeny, will be directed by Evil Dead (2013)'s Fede Alvarez, and Ridley Scott himself told Alvarez that the movie is great. We don't know much more than that, but we're hopeful it'll be a solid horror flick.

Beetlejuice 2
35 years after the original Beetlejuice (yes, it's been that long), there's a sequel on the way. Beetlejuice 2 will star Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder, along with a new addition to the film: Jenna Ortega. That's all we know for now, but it's sure to be an exciting 2024 release.
Release Date: September 6, 2024
Saw XI
After the major box office success of Saw X, there's of course a sequel on the way. We really don't know anything more other than a tentative release date, but here's hoping franchise mainstay Tobin Bell will return.
This film is expected to be released in September 2024.
Smile 2
Parker Finn's directorial debut Smile was an unexpected success. The sequel will star Lukas Gage and Naomi Scott, with Kyle Gallner returning in his role as Joel. If the sequel is as good as the original, we could have a fun new franchise on our hands.

Nosferatu
Nosferatu will arguably be one of the biggest releases of 2024, horror or not. Written and directed by Robert Eggers, the film stars Lily-Rose Depp, Bill Skarsgård, Willem Dafoe, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Nicholas Hoult, and serves as a remake of the 1922 film of the same name. Fans of Eggers' previous films—including The Northman, The Lighthouse, and The VVitch—should be in for another treat.

The Crow
Bill Skarsgård will also star in a reboot of The Crow, alongside musician FKA Twigs. The film follows a murdered musician who is resurrected to avenge his death and his fiancée's.
This film is expected to be released in 2024.
Longlegs
If there's anything Nicolas Cage can do well, it's play a really off-the-wall character. Longlegs comes from director Oz Perkins (son of Anthony) and follows an FBI agent (played by It Follows's Maika Monroe) who discovers she has a connection to a ruthless serial killer (Cage), and must work to prevent his next murder. NEON has already released a few teasers for the film which are truly engrossing and chilling.
This film is expected to be released in 2024.
In a Violent Nature
This slasher sounds like a winner for fans of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The film follows a serial killer who stalks a group of teens in the Ontario wilderness. We don't have anything by way of a date as it's a Sundance release, but expect to hear more about the film later this year.
This film is expected to be released in 2024.
Presence
Steven Soderbergh is back with an exciting psychological horror film starring Lucy Liu, Julia Fox, and Chris Sullivan. Plot details still aren't clear, but it sounds like a classic "family moves into a new home but aren't alone"type premise.
This film is expected to be released in 2024.
I Saw the TV Glow
A hit with 2024's Sundance crowd, I Saw the TV Glow stars Justice Smith and Brigitte Lundy-Paine as two teens who bond over a television show from their childhood. But when the show is canceled, their sense of reality is altered.
This film is expected to be released in 2024.

Known for her roles on The White Lotus and Little Voice, Brittany O'Grady stars in It's What's Inside, which follows the members of a wedding party consisting of college friends. When an old classmate arrives, tension, romance, and chaos ensue.
This film is expected to be released in 2024.
