And whatever you do, never fill up on Fridays or Saturdays—that’s when prices are highest (Sundays are not much better, although the wait time is short). “As the week progresses and our excitement builds for the weekend, gas prices also have a tendency to rise,” says Patrick DeHaan, a senior petroleum analyst at gasbuddy.com.
