13 Reasons Why star leads cast for new gay Netflix drama
13 Reasons Why actor Miles Heizer is staying in the Netflix business for his next role.
It's been confirmed that he'll play the main character Cameron Cope in a 10-episode series titled The Corps, adapted from ex-marine sergeant Greg Cope White's 2016 memoir.
Reminiscent of last year's film festival darling The Inspection, this one takes us back to 1990 in the era of 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell', as gay teenager Cameron enlists in the marine corps alongside his best pal Ray, portrayed by newcomer Liam Oh.

"As these two friends plunge into boot camp, where landmines are both literal and metaphorical, they join a platoon of young men on a harrowing journey of transformation," teased an official synopsis.
The Corps boasts Vera Farmiga (The Conjuring) in its cast too, as Cameron's mum – "always on the run from the consequences of her actions, but becomes unmoored when her son leaves for the marine corps", while Max Parker (Vampire Academy) is onboard as a closeted sergeant.
Peter Hoar (The Last of Us) will direct the first episode.

In an unfortunate twist for original author White, development on The Corps coincides with the Writers Guild of America strike currently taking place.
He tweeted today (May 5): "My book adaptation is currently in production. Not going to lie, this is painful. Our show is about courage, honour & commitment – principles I strive to embody.
"To the dedicated artists shaping our show, I hope we're all back on set together soon. The food is so good. #WGAStrong."
The Corps will stream exclusively on Netflix next year.
