Here is a Lexington list and guide of the best weekend events around Central Kentucky on Friday, Saturday and Sunday if you are bored and need things to do from live music concerts, theatre shows and plays, kid-friendly events, craft fairs, painting events, comedy shows, dance performances, 5K charity runs, St. Patrick’s Day parades and Oscar watch parties.

Girls Sweet Sixteen Basketball Tournament at Rupp Arena

The KHSAA’s Girls Sweet Sixteen Basketball Tournament will continue at Rupp Arena through March 11. Remaining tip off times are on March 10 at 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. and March 11 at 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. 430 W Vine St. RuppArena.com.

‘Wild Lights: Around the World’ at the Louisville Zoo

See the Leaning Tower of Pisa, Sydney Opera House, Hall of Supreme Harmony, Great Sphinx of Giza and more all lit up during “Wild Lights: Around The World” at the Louisville Zoo from March 10 through May 21. Painting workshop at Wildside Winery

Catch The Leprechaun 5K at Berea Community High School

Kentucky Crafted Market at Alltech Arena

The best visual and craft artists from around the state will gather at the Kentucky Horse Park’s Alltech Arena for the Kentucky Crafted Market on March 11 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and March 12 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The event is free to attend, but parking will cost you $6. 4089 Iron Works Pkwy. Alltech Lexington St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival

The Alltech Lexington St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival will return to downtown Lexington for the first time since celebrating its 40 year anniversary in 2019 on March 11. Festivities begin at 10:45 a.m. with the traditional “blessing of the keg” from Father Norman Fischer at Henry A. Tandy Centennial Plaza and will culminate in a parade at 1 p.m. moving down Main Street from Midland Avenue to Mill Street. The event is free to attend. LexingtonPatsParade.org.

Will Run For Chocolate 3K at Riney B. Park

The second annual Will Run For Chocolate 3K and Kids ¼ Mile Dash benefiting East Jessamine Track/Cross Country Boosters will take place at Riney B. Oscar party at the Kentucky Theatre

Take to the red carpet at the Kentucky Theatre, 214 E Main St., and watch Hollywood’s biggest night: the Oscar’s on the downtown theatre’s biggest screen.
