12 places to slurp buck-a-shuck oysters on the South Shore

Eating seafood next to the sea is something that most people think of doing during the summer when the sun is out and the weather is hot. But surprisingly to this Texan, oyster season is in full swing.

From October to February or March is the prime time for fresh local oysters. As the water gets colder, it makes a perfect environment for harvesting oysters.

Plenty of South Shore restaurants are selling oysters. Here is a list of buck-a-shuck restaurants in the area.

Affordable oysters on the South Shore

Haddad’s Ocean Cafe

This Marshfield eatery is offering a buck-a-shuck promotion every Wednesday with $1 oysters and shrimp cocktails offered, according to the restaurant's website. Haddad’s Ocean Cafe is at 293 Ocean St., Marshfield.

Oro

This Scituate restaurant offers half-priced oysters on Wednesdays, according to the restaurant's website. Oro is at 227 Chief Justice Cushing Highway, Scituate.

Osteria Vivo

This Pembroke restaurant offers $1.50 oysters from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays. Osteria Vivo is at 254 Church St. #7, Pembroke.

ThreeV Restaurant

The Plymouth restaurant offers $1 Plymouth Bay oysters every Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. ThreeV Restaurant is at 10 Cordage Park Circle, Suite 253, Plymouth.

Winsor House

This is one of the eateries at Island Creek Oysters in Duxbury. Their oyster offer is $1.50 oysters on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to close, but the promotion is limited to Duxbury residents who show proof of residency.

The restaurant offers this same deal to everyone during brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Windsor House is at 390 Washington St., Duxbury.

Tavern on the Wharf

As part of its happy hour menu, offered Monday through Friday from 2 to 5 p.m., the tavern features $1 oysters, $2 cheeseburgers or chicken sliders and a $5 cheese pizza.

Tavern on the Wharf is at 6 Town Wharf, Plymouth.

Sorelle

The Abington restaurant offers its buck-a-shuck promotion every Tuesday night: $1 locally sourced oysters. Sorelle is at 1400 Bedford St., Abington.

Rozafa Mediterranean Bistro

Quincy-based Rozafa was in our brunch list earlier this year. This time, the restaurant is offering $1 oysters on Wednesdays from 5 to 9 p.m. Rozafa Mediterranean Bistro is at 1089 Hancock St., Quincy.

La Baia

Plymouth-based La Baia is a Mediterranean restaurant in Plymouth offering oysters for $1.50 apiece from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday. La Baia is at 98 Water St., Unit 104, Plymouth.

Leandro's Italian Restaurant

This Easton restaurant offers $1 oysters, sourced mostly from the Cape Cod area, every Sunday. Leandro's is at 402 Turnpike St., Easton.
