11 central Georgia businesses and professionals recognized with ‘Best in Business’ awards

Eleven recipients of the 2024 Best in Business Award were recently announced for the central Georgia area.

John Gaylor, president of the Best in Business Award, said the award recognizes businesses and professionals who showcase quality, integrity, trust and experience.

Recipients of the award are:

  • Aegis Roofing

  • Allen’s Tree Service

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters Heart of Georgia

  • Harrison’s Body Shop

  • Houston Asphalt Paving

  • Hudson & Marshall Auction Company

  • Ken’s Audio-Video-Car Stereo

  • McArthur Law Firm

  • Ned Dominick’s Home Inspections

  • Phillips Chiropractic

  • Raffield Tire Master

Gaylor said what differentiates the Best in Business Award program from other similar programs is that the businesses or professionals it recognizes are referred to as recipients - not winners.

“The latter infers that whoever garners the most votes wins the award. Unfortunately, that can sometimes become a popularity contest, whereby businesses solicit votes from their family, friends or customers,” he said. “With our award, however, businesses or professionals are nominated through our website; then we go through an extensive selection process and we designate only one recipient per category.”

Gaylor explained there are no runners-up - the goal is to identify the business or professional that is at the top of their category.

He said those who select the recipients are careful in their selection process and verify that the business is in good standing with the local Better Business Bureau, carries plenty of liability insurance, and is compliant with immigration standards. Gaylor said they also check if a business conducts background and drug checks on their employees when applicable, carries industry certifications, has no pending litigation against them and demonstrates good character within the community.

Gaylor said the Best in Business Awards program provides a resource for consumers to make an informed decision about the service they are seeking - and they can do that with the confidence these companies have been vetted.

Each recipient is featured with their own page and a hotlink on the Best in Business Award website.

Most recipients have been in business for more than 20 years or more, have stellar reputations and are pillars in the community. Many are even multi-generational and family-owned, according to Gaylor.

“Our non-profit recipient, Big Brothers Big Sisters, at one point was named the most credible national charity in America by the Chronicle of Philanthropy,” he said.

Gaylor said there is no reason to drive to Atlanta when a community has the same quality from businesses right in their own hometown.

“Geographically, we are considered to be a small to medium-size market,” he said. “That said, I would put our Central Georgia Best in Business Award recipients and their reputations up against any of their major market competition.”
