10-Year-Old Corgi Who 'Chooses Her Own Destiny' Is Making People Smile

Some days your dog is itching to go out for a walk — well, most days your dog is looking forward to a walk. But there are certainly some dogs that don't necessarily love exercise. One couple decided to compromise with their Corgi and leave the option to walk up to them. And the results are pretty darn funny.

The couple regularly posts about their Corgi on their page @casadelcorgo. But a recent video really took the cake.

It sort of makes sense. Instead of dragging their dog out of the house every day, the Corgi owners have decided to let the dog decide. In the clip they shared, each pup parent presented an option: stay inside or go for a walk.

"Every day we let our 10-year-old Corgi decide if she wants to come on a walk," they explained in the onscreen caption. "If she comes down the stairs it's a yes, if she sits...it's a no."

"Are you coming on a walk with us? You get to decide," her mama asked in the clip. And TBH, waiting for the dog to make her call had us completely on edge.

People in the comments section were just as stressed. "She’s like no, I take this time to pretend I live alone," wrote one person. "She’s like 'so sweet of you to extend the invite - I have a lot going on right now and need a night at home. But I hope you have a blast,'" another commenter teased. "She’s like 'not today hoomans! Y'all enjoy,'" someone else joked.

How to Get Your Dog to Go on a Walk

Some dogs don't need tons of exercise to be happy, but you do want them to do something to get their steps in, right? If you're struggling to get your dog out of the house there are many ways you can try to make it happen.

First you'll want to give your dog a dedicated side to walk on so they won't pull on their leash. Then you might want to try and mix up your route. A new routine might convince your dog to go out and explore. When you get a part of your walk that's interesting, speed up so your dog will move more. You also might want to limit how much you allow your dog to stop and explore, so that they'll realize the only way they can walk is with you.

Of course, you should finish all walks with a treat. That can also help your dog feel a little motivated to go outside and get the blood pumping.
