These are the 10 most overused words found on New Jersey résumés

A new study by QRFY suggests that New Jersey has 10 of the most common words and phrases that are overused on résumés, according to a new release.

To determine the results, the QR code generator company compiled a list of 50 commonly used resume words and phrases against Indeed’s Résumé Search over the last six months.

According to the study, the top 10 most frequently used words featured in New Jersey-based résumés are:

  1. Responsible, used 146,691 times

  2. Organized, used 107,550 times

  3. Social, used 99,334 times

  4. Trained, used 71,503 times

  5. Proficient, used 69,206 times

  6. Motivated, used 57,791 times

  7. Experienced, used 53,063 times

  8. Leader, used 52,437 times

  9. Exceptional, used 51,727 times

  10. Bilingual, used 48,106 times

“For those seeking career advancement, better work-life balance, or simply wanting a change of role, using the right language on your résumé is crucial if you want to impress potential employers. If you’re using the same old buzzwords as everyone else, it can often feel difficult to stand out from the crowd," said Marc Porcar, CEO of QRFY, which carried out the study, according to yahoonews.com.
