11 huge Emmerdale storylines still to comeITV

Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale has kept delivering big storylines this year – from Paddy Dingle's emotional mental health plot, to Caleb Miligan's ruthless plan to take over Home Farm.

As we look to the future, there's plenty more drama to expect as we head towards the autumn and another explosive Super Soap Week.

Here's our full guide to the stories the show has teased for the rest of the year, all in one place.

1. Charity's thoughts turn back to revenge

Charity refrained from launching a messy revenge plan when she uncovered her husband Mackenzie's big betrayal earlier this year, but the love rat may not be out of the danger zone just yet.

In a recent Digital Spy chat, Emma Atkins – who plays Charity – hinted that Mack and his new girlfriend Chloe haven't necessarily got away with their months of lies and deceit.

Emma told us: "At the moment [Charity is] in a very angry state of mind. I think there's definitely vengeance on the cards, in terms of: how can she actually allow this guy to have done what he's done?

"So she's toying with that and all of her family and friends are saying: 'Just leave it, walk away, forget it, move on'. She's like: 'No!'

"I think the future will very much be about her confronting those issues, because it's left her quite broken. At the moment she's too broken to deal with anything, but she's just letting people know it's in her arsenal, it's there, it's not going away, it's not dying down. She was hoping very much for it to do that and it's not, it's got worse."

2. Charity, Mackenzie and Chloe's big October week

Emmerdale's executive producer Jane Hudson recently named Charity as a central character in this year's action-packed Super Soap Week. Soap tradition dictates that Emmerdale and Coronation Street both pull out all the stops with a high-octane week in October each year, and it seems that 2023 will be no exception.

Reflecting on the Charity/Mackenzie/Chloe saga, Jane told Inside Soap: "I think with that story, it's safe to say the viewers know we do Super Soap Week in October.

"If there is ever a plot to explode around that time, it's a love triangle that involves Charity. So, I would watch this space for another couple of months."

Emma Atkins reflected further in her recent Digital Spy chat, exclusively telling us: "I'm very excited! Some Super Soap Weeks I don't manage to be part of, which is just the way it goes. So to be at the centre and for it to be quite a big storm brewing – not literally a storm, we've done that!

"I just know that it's going to be spectacular in one way or another and we're due to get the scripts shortly, but it's going to be quite big."

Super Soap Week will see Charity, Mackenzie and Chloe all take centre stage as they find themselves in a dramatic situation.

3. Rhona's story is revisited

Rhona received a visit from her ex-husband Gus this year and was left with a big decision to make when he asked for permission to use the embryos they'd frozen when they were still together.

After much deliberation, Rhona declined the request – but Emmerdale bosses have confirmed that this story isn't over.

Emmerdale's executive producer Jane Hudson previously told Digital Spy and other press: "There is a long way to go with that story. It's one of those stories that when you think it's ended, it probably hasn't. It's a fascinating story and I think Zoe [Henry, who plays Rhona] is a brilliant actress.

"We always want to find the next big story and I think this is Rhona's next big story. It's going to be one that really captures the viewers."

Recent on-screen mentions of Rhona's missing passport have provided early clues that Gus is up to something behind her back.

The passport disappeared when Gus rescued Rhona's mum Mary following a violent altercation with con artist Faye. Faye has been blamed for the missing passport, but viewers know that Gus was also acting suspiciously in Rhona's house at the time.

4. New character Harry arrives

Emmerdale bosses have cast former Hollyoaks actor Robert Beck as Harry, a client who's introduced when Nate starts working at a car firm.

Harry's first scenes air in Monday's episode (August 7), but it won't be the last that viewers see of him as the Dingles get embroiled in his dodgy dealings.

When Nate starts getting involved in criminal jobs, he finds himself out of his depth and has to turn to his Dingle family members for help.

Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw recently said: "We are thrilled to have Robert joining the Emmerdale family to play Harry.

"Dangerous and unpredictable, Harry will bring drama and peril to some of our most loved villagers, with some twists and turns along the way that our viewers really won't be expecting!"

5. Gabby struggles to move on

Gabby still isn't coping after the heartbreak of being dumped by Nicky on their wedding day and discovering the truth about his attempts to con her.

This recently culminated in Gabby's attempt to kiss married man Billy while he was consoling her at Home Farm.

Gabby takes a break to Portugal next week in the hope of clearing her head after what happened.

However, Rosie Bentham – who plays Gabby – recently told Digital Spy: "I hope there's happiness for Gabby. I think it's going to be a really tough few months coming up – obviously she got left on her wedding day.

"She's young, she's going through a lot and a lot of changes. She wants to be successful and she'll do anything she can to get there. Fingers crossed."

6. More drama for Bob

Tony Audenshaw, who plays Bob Hope, recently promised interesting times ahead for his character.

In a chat with Inside Soap, he revealed: "I've always wanted to have more scenes with Amy [Walsh, who plays Tracy] and from what I understand, I'll be getting that chance.

"There's a dramatic story on the cards involving Bob's close circle that I certainly didn't see coming, and I don't think it's one that's been done in a soap before."

7. Suni finds out the truth

ITV

While no spoilers have been released for the big reveal just yet, it's surely only a matter of time before village newcomer Suni discovers that his "cousin" Jai is actually his half-brother.

Jai learned the truth on the day that his adoptive dad Rishi died. He subsequently decided not to spark any further family drama and vowed not to tell Suni, who's now keen to stay in the village. Good luck with that one, Jai…

8. Dan's rumoured exit

ITV

Dan Spencer is expected to leave the Dales at some point this year, with fans putting two and two together after Liam Fox – who plays him – recently signed up for a panto role this Christmas.

While soap stars often take on other projects, Emmerdale and Corrie stars usually aren't allowed to do pantos while under contract at ITV. This appears to suggest that Liam has started making plans for a post-soap future and that Dan's current storyline could lead to an exit.

Dan is currently facing major trouble with the law after his "one-punch" attack on Lloyd led to the stalker passing away in hospital.

9. Bernice's rumoured exit

Bernice appeared to have long-term plans for her future in the village this year when she took over the B&B with Bob, but tabloid reports have since suggested that she'll be leaving the show in the coming months.

While no firm details of an exit plot have been revealed just yet, it's thought that Samantha Giles – who plays Bernice – has decided to depart the Dales again.

10. Vanessa's return

ITV

Emmerdale fans haven't seen Vanessa on screen for a while, as she left the village in November 2022 after landing a new job in Canada.

This was because Michelle Hardwick, who plays Vanessa, took maternity leave in real life and welcomed her second child – daughter Betty – with her wife Kate Brooks.

Michelle has confirmed that she'll return to filming at Emmerdale later this year, so fingers crossed we'll see her back before 2023 is over.

11. A Christmas baby

Dawn and Billy recently discovered the news that they're expecting a child together.

When the happy couple later attended a baby scan together, they were told that they could expect to meet their new arrival just in time for Christmas.
