One restaurant was temporarily closed during recent Tarrant County Public Health inspections and live roaches were found at another, according to data compiled by the Star-Telegram.

From Oct. 16 to Nov. 5, Tarrant County Public Health inspectors visited 295 food service operations.

The Dragon House, located at 2640 E. Southlake Blvd., received 38 demerits on Oct. 26 for multiple violations including a rusted dough sheeter, dirty grinder, fly strips covered with flies and no certified food manager onsite.

The restaurant was closed until all violations could be corrected. Inspectors gave permission for the establishment to re-open after a follow-up inspection Oct. 28.

Restaurants that receive more than 29 demerits require a follow-up inspection.

At Benbrook Cafe, located at 4902 Hwy. 377 South, inspectors found live roaches in the dish area and dozens of flies in the back kitchen. The establishment was given 14 demerits during the Nov. 1 inspection.

Pest control had visited the establishment by the Nov. 4 follow-up inspection and inspectors did not find any live roaches. They also reported fewer flies in the kitchen. The restaurant received 5 demerits on the second inspection.

Ohana Hawaiian BBQ and Poke, located at 5600 Colleyville Blvd. Suite B, received the second-highest number of demerits at 28. Some of the food in the walk-in cooler was not dated and it couldn’t be proved that the raw shellfish was stored at low enough temperatures to destroy parasites.

There were 137 establishments that received the best possible score of zero.
