1 person seriously injured in central Lubbock shooting

One person was seriously injured after a shooting near 65th Drive and Avenue L Thursday, according to police.

Officers were called to the 1300 block of 65th Drive around 1:45 p.m. Thursday for reports of shots fired. One female suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to University Medical Center, the Lubbock Police Department said.

One person was taken into police custody in connection with the shooting, according to LPD. Police do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public and are not seeking any other suspects in the shooting.

Details were sparse by 5 p.m. Wednesday. The Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit is investigating.
